Die Bestände sind gar nicht oder teilweise summarisch erschlossen. Für die Bestände des Alten Archives der Ortsbürgergemeinde (ab 1300) existiert ein recht summarisches Verzeichnis, die Bestände der Politischen Gemeinde Wil sind erst gesichert. Kleinere Mengen von Plänen und Fotografien, die Bibliothek und die Zeitungsausschnittesammlung sind mit einer Datenbank detailliert erschlossen.
